Our wedding day was beyond perfect. The whole weekend was! Friends and family coming together, eating, drinking, laughing. There was so much love and friendship and FUN! Just how we wanted it to be. There are posts all around this blog, detailing out all the pieces, and here is a YouTube video of the ceremony. We look forward to remembering this day for years to come.
Some notes from planning:
Date: August 10, 2012 … exactly 2 years + 1 month after our first date. It is also the 222nd day in 2012…and 22 is both mine and Matt’s lucky number!
Location: Port Townsend, WA … one of our favorite getaway spots, 2 hours from Seattle
Venue: Historic Fort Worden State Park … ceremony at Battery Tolles and reception in the USO Hall (where An Officer & A Gentleman was filmed!)
Photographer: Ben Becker … he is AMAZING! Check out some of his work here
Officiant: my childhood friend and mentor from St. Croix (and now a close friend of Matt’s as well!): Marty Campbell
DJ/Emcee: My brother’s friend from high school, Josh…oh he will be perfect!
Coordinator: Lots of DIY with the help of our day-of coordinator, Karle from Weddings by Design in Port Townsend
Colors: ivory/champagne & brown with accents of sage green
Invitations: e-save the dates (green and money saving option), ordered invitations from Wedding Paper Divas, doing the rest ourselves (RSVP cards etc)
TBD…but it is going to be awesome. Catered by Bon Appetit at the fort. Wild line caught salmon, flat iron steak, scalloped potatoes, seasonal veggies, and salad! All of their food is organic and locally sourced!
Cake: wedding cake was Matt’s favorite (and a thrifty option!): Safeway white on white! We also invited guests bring homemade cakes for a wonderful cake buffet!
Flowers: Succulents! Put together by a friend from work who owns a florist shop in Tacoma.
The Dress: a beautiful one I found back in 2005 (long before I even met Matt!) in Pennsylvania. It hung out in the closet for a good long time for this event.
Maids and Guys outfits: ladies choose an ivory/lacy/natural dress of their choice while guys had khakis and neutral shirts accented with ties and vests from thrift stores!
Centerpieces: DIY succulents planted in old, pressed glass bowls
Wedding Night Destination: The Big Red Barn in Port Townsend
